The Villages of Fernkloof Estate are situated within or on the perimeter of the Hermanus Golf Club’s 27 hole golf course. The original 18 hole course was redesigned and extended to 27 holes in 2006/7, by the well-known South African golf course architect, Peter Matkovich.
A symbiotic relationship exists between Fernkloof Estate and Hermanus Golf Club. This relationship was enhanced by the quality of the residences and landscaping developed on the estate and the constant exceptional quality of the golf course.
Contrary to most other ‘golf’ estates, Hermanus Golf Club has remained an autonomous private member’s golf club. There is no financial connection between Hermanus Golf Club and Fernkloof Estate which means that Fernkloof Estate is not in any way responsible for the development and maintenance of the golf course property.
While there is no financial connection, the MPOA and the Golf Club committee interact on a regular basis on matters such as security, the wetlands maintenance, controlling of alien invasive plant species and ageing trees, as well as maintaining fire breaks between the golf course and residential boundaries.
